Re: Ply Family of Stokes County, NC, 1810s & 1820s
I do not know, but I have thought that Rebecca might have been the daughter of Jonathan Barrett who died in Davidson County in 1840. The northern border of Davidson County is shared with Forsyth county which was formed from the southern half of Stokes County. John Ply's NC land grant was along this border. I have not seen it, but there is a will in the NC Archives for this Jonathan Barrett: Mitchell Will Index, Davidson County; Barrett, Jonathan;1840 Call Number: WB-1/354 Location: Archive Stacks; MARS Id: 5200.32.17 (Folder) Byron Bowman

Re: Ply Family of Stokes County, NC, 1810s & 1820s
That would be Jonathan Barrett, Jr. I live in Raleigh, NC so I'll have to drive out that way and see what I can find. I have been to the top of Barrett's Mountain but it's been several years ago. Thanks very much for the tip.

Re: Ply Family of Stokes County, NC, 1810s & 1820s
Oh my, I had no idea. I've been in NC just under two years and am about 6 miles from downtown. I'll go next week! Thank you so much! Is there anything I can find or copy for you while I'm there?

Re: Ply Family of Stokes County, NC, 1810s & 1820s
Thank you for the offer, but I do not have anything at this time. In addition to the Library and Archives there is an excellent collection of Genealogical materials in the research room on the Mezzanine. Please let the list know if you find that Jonathan JR was the father of Rebecca Barrett. Byron
