Lola Hunt
Lola Ply Hunt, 81, our beloved mother, doting grandmother, adored sister, and treasured friend passed away in Abilene, TX, on July 2, after her second bout with cancer. She is survived by her children Jerry D. Hunt and wife Sherry, Donald S. Hunt and wife Lela, Zelda Hunt Jones and partner Carol Wilson, and Steven E. Hunt and wife Regina. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Hunt, and by her parents, Beulah Edwards Ply and William Jacob Ply. Of the 13 children born into Beulah and Jake's family only 3 remain: Lucille Ply Gray of Abilene, TX, Lois Ply Plaugher of Ohio, and Robert Ply of Mesquite, TX. Besides her family genealogy was her great passion. She was a member of several genealogical societies and was known for her meticulous research and documentation. Her book, The Ply Families 1822 - 1992, is considered to be the point of reference for the Ply-Edwards family and its subsequent branches. Her unfinished work included the Barrow-Spain-Snow branches. She was an untiring tutor and mentor to those interested in genealogy. Her deep compassion and empathy, delightful sense of humor, never ending curiosity, and sensible guidance will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services for Mrs. Hunt will be conducted at Fairview Cemetery, Midland, Texas, on July 7th, at 1:30 PM.
