Pluchino name

Pluchino name

There are many Pluchino clans in the Province of Ragusa. I don't know if that implies a common ancestor or many people acquired that name when they were handing out surnames however many hundreds of years ago. I think that maybe because the name is so localized that there might be a common ancestor. If it was a name that many people were taking because of it's meaning (whatever that is), then it would be found everywhere and anywhere in Italy. Does anyone know anything about the origins or meaning of the name? I spoke to a Greek man once and he said that there is a word "pluchos" in the Greek language and it means something like rich in spirit if not pocket.

Anyway... I have a great uncle who died here in NY (relatively young, in the 30's or 40's). His wife and two sons returned to Ragusa after his death. The oldest of the two sons died in WWII, but the younger did not go to war. I would love to find him (probably dead or very old) and his decendants. My g-uncle was Emannuele Pluchino. I don't know his wife's name. His eldest son was Giovanni. I don't know the younger son's name either. The rest of my family, those on this side of the Atlantic, are all accounted for.
