Our family name was originally Blucher. I have found it spelt various ways in my research. I would be glad to exchange information and pictures with anyone who thinks they might be connected to Blucher, especially if they have ties with Philadelphia, Pa.

My name is Melonie Blucher Collini. My grandfather was John M. Blucher and his father was Richard T. Blucher. We are from the Baltimore area. My cousin recently found a web page connecting our grandfather to the Plocher/Bloucher name. She is tracking down this person, her email was returned as undeliverable.

Hi Mary! What are the dates for your Richard and John? Our family story is this; Gebhardt vonBlucher a famous Prussian General, had a son or grandson who went to Florida for health reasons. Unfortunately, he died there. His family moved to the Phila. area to be with other family members. I've been able to trace back to John J. Plocher/Ploucher (he spelt it various ways) born in Pa. 1820. John had 6 sons. He also had a brother Christian. If you ever make a connection please let me know.

Hi Barbara thanks for response and info on General vonBlucher, and John J. Plocher/Ploucher. As to my grandfather, John Matthew Blucher, as far as I know he was born in Md. but maybe not?? Born 2/9/1875 died: july 26, 1930 in Balto. City Hopital of T.B. Wife was Martha Ellen (Baseman). John's father, my grandfather, was Richard T. Blucher, married to a Mary. I don't have any dates on him as yet..but probably born in mid 1850's, I'm guessing. I am researching him at present. If I find any connection to the Pa. group, I'l let you know. Thanks so much. Maybe one of his 6 son's was my great grandfather...who knows!
