A very good Wisconsin genealogist John Von Haden has the following site http://www.washcowis.com/ He spoke at a national genealogy convention held in Milwaukee a few years ago and suggested that when you research your family also research their neighbors because many will have come from the same area in Europe. He obviously followed his own advice.

"This website lists genealogical research available from John Von Haden, a native of Hartford, Wisconsin. 'My research covers all of Washington and Ozaukee counties, Wisconsin and portions of Milwaukee, Waukesha, Dodge, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac counties with some focus on Calumet, Chippewa, Clark, Marathon, Outagamie and Wood counties.' He further says 'my specialty is researching church records and civil records in Germany, France and Luxemburg' ".
You can buy the following Plier information from him.

Plier - Family Group Sheets (for Plier)
Plier, Henry - born 1869, married Elizabeth S., 6 children from 1903 to 1912
Plier, Nicolaus - born 1836, married twice - Margaret M., Elisabeth S., 7 children from 1861 to 1869
Plier, Peter - born 1869, married Mary S., 5 children from 1892 to 1907
Plier, Peter - born 1846, married Margaret S., 7 children from 1863 to 1878
[(I am guessing that the wife is Margaret Schoeder although I only have the names of 6 children based on the census. But I believe JVH would also check church records and a child could have been baptized but died mq-t.) (The Luxemburgers in northern Ozaukee Co. and around Random Lake in Sheboygan Co. have kept very through records which are available for research, mq-t.)]

The Pliers who settled in southern Sheboygan Co. near Random Lake or northern Ozaukee Co. in Wisconsin in the 1840s and 1850s were often, maybe always, of Luxemburg descent.

The Village of Belgium Wisconsin website tells the area's story this way: " Belgic Luxembourgers -- from the part of old Luxembourg annexed by Belgium--settled in the area of the present Township and Village of Belgium, Wisconsin, in the middle of the 19th century. Descendants of the original families still live in the area today, and preserve their heritage."

Every year Luxemburg Fest is held in the Town of Belgium in Ozaukee Co. Plier is one of the families which in rotating years is honored at the Fest.

These Luxemburgers have kept records from the very beginning of their settlement. There is much information and documentation about this settlement and other US settlements of Belgic Luxembourgers at the:

The Luxembourger records are no longer kept at the Harbor Square as stated in my 2007 post but rather in the relatively new Luxembourger Center in the Town of Belgium, Ozaukee Co., Wisconsin.

I personally have no information about where all the docs held by the Port Washington Historical Society are.

But all these questions could be answered by googling for the Luxembourg Center in Belgium WI or the Port Washington Historical Society. The later might still be found at http://www.portwashingtonhistoricalsociety.org/
