Re: Jack Pleasant Yorkshire UK
Hi Jane, My father said that Jack Pleaasnts was a relative of ours but I have found no link at all. He was actually a music hall artist and it is possible to get a CD of his songs, I bought a copy but it is not at all to my taste or any modern taste I would venture to say. I believe that he actually died on stage. If you are interested I could point you in the direction of the CD that is available, it includes his most famous song, "I'm Shy Marry Ellen, I'm Shy". If you have any link to his family tree I would be grateful to have it so that I can try to find out if there is a link to my family. David

Re: Jack Pleasant Yorkshire UK
Hello Jane, I have only come by this site by chance. My best friend who lives in Australia, who's Father and his parents migrated here in the 1950's. John age 33 is most certainly the great great granson of the Jack Pleasants of music hall fame. I have seen photos and personal belongings of Jack at John's Mother's home in Gisborne Victoria. John's Sibblings are also fully aware of their wellknown grandpaent. Two of John's sibblings live in the UK, and i'm certain they would be most interested to see what is in your possesion, and the story you have on aquiring them. I will inform Michael or Sara Pleasants as soon as you contact me. I'm looking forward to hear from you Jane. Regards. John Schaaf.

Re: Jack Pleasant Yorkshire UK
Hi John, As you will see from the thread I replied twice to Jane but never received any response. My father said that Jack Pleasants was related to us and he bears some resemblance to my grandfather Ernest b 1874, however I have not found a link to the Yorkshire based Pleasants family. My family comes from Dalham in Suffolk from about 1790 and before that in Exning in Suffolk. If any of those you mention in Australia or UK have done any research into their ancestors I would be most grateful to be put in touch. I am quite happy to be contacted directly on 07890292467
Best regards
David Pleasants

Re: Jack Pleasant Yorkshire UK
Hi Jane, There is definitely a connection here (proven). My husband was the grandson of Jack Pleasants. His father (also John) was unofficially adOpted by Jack and Jessie (for which I have a Marriage Certificate.
Jack. Died of an appendix attack which perforated after he appeared one evening in a pantomime. Jessie lived in London and died just after the war. As previously stated two of his descendants are currently living in the UK - one in Suffolk, the other in a town called Wrestlingworth which I believe is in Berkshire, bringing up a further generation of Jack's descendants.
If you wish to follow this further let me know
