I happened to be doing a little background work on the family that built my home in Stillwater, MN at 421 West Willard. Theodore Plaster is the builder. We have live here since 1986. The blacksmith shop where he worked still exists as does the home. Thought you might be interested.

I am hoping someone out there may be able to help me.

Johanna Plaster came over from "Pomern" Germany on Feb 8th 1900. She was listed as 21 years old at that time (born around 1879). With her was her son (Arthur). Arthur was listed as 1 year old at the time of arrival. No father was listed for Arthur.

I would really like to find out more about her life in Germany. Siblings? What was here parents story?

I know that she sailed out from Liverpool, England on January 21st, 1900. She was held for affidavit from her Uncle (listed as H. Klot). After the affidavit arrived she and Arthur were released on Fed. 15th. H. Klot is listed as living at 513 W. Thomas Ave. Chicago, IL.

I just posted a response to a William Plaster message. My great great grandfather was William Plaster married to Nancy Bowman. My great grandfather was James E Plaster who had 5 daughters. My grandmother Ellen was the 4th child born 10/21/1902 in West Mifflin. She married James Fragassi and had 12 children. Nancy passed when my grandmother was 2 or 3 so I only know that Nancy Bowman was from England and migrated to the US in 1885. I have been unsuccessfully trying to locate the burial place of William and Nancy.

howdy --

I think you talked (or helped talk me into) signing up for face book. I never have figured out what to do when it says I have been "tagged". What am I t do with that? It gives no hints as to what it means and when I click on it all it does is show many dozen names of many people I have never heard of and it things I am supposed to know them. Maybe one in 50 I have heard of and there is no way to contact that person listed.

I am the so of your great Aunt Louise. She and Uncle Haven were brother and sister. According to mother, five families came up to Oklahoma in 1906 in covered wagons -- we are related to three of them. Either 2 Jona girls or two Plaster girls married three Kinder boys. The Kinder's got land in Oklahoma during the last of the rgeat land rushes. It wasn't a land rush like the others though but rather a lottery. They got a lot of land Eastern Tillman County.

Ours didn't. George Washington Plaster married Dona Jerusha Jonas in Jack County, Texas -- they came either from Bryson or Jacksboro -- I forget which. The Jonases came from the other town. Sometimes if you are researching the JonAses they have mistranscribed it as "JonEs" so be careful if you are looking for them.

Thomas Pliney Plaster/ Sam Houston Connection

I am a descendant of Thomas P. Plaster, son of Thomas R. Plaster and Margaret Henderson, through their son Henry Franklin Plaster.

Thomas R. Plaster was the son of John Plaster (b. 1753) and Mary Porter.

John Plaster (b. 1753) was the son of Michael Plaster (b. 1730) and Tamar Houston (b. abt. 1732).

It seems that most family trees have Tamar Houston as the daughter of John Houston (b. 1690) and Mary. This John Houston is responsible for the male line that produced Sam Houston. However, I cannot find any information that supports John and Mary Houston having a daughter named Tamar.

Has anyone verified that this Plaster line contains a John Houston branch?

Does anyone have more information on Tamar Houston?

I would greatly appreciate any information provided. I also have old photos of Joseph Jefferson Plaster and Isabella Griffith and family that I could provide. As well, I have a transcript from Katharine Isabella Plaster describing frontier memories with her family.

Thank you for your time and help.
