My ggg grandmother was Maggie K Plake, born 1847 in KY. She married William Woods, but I'm not sure if they were in Illinois or Missouri, as the first time I could find them together was in California in 1870. She died in the 1880's. I found her maiden name on the death certificate of one of her children.
Any info would be helpful.

I am researching a branch of the Plake Family from which Wilford Harrison Plake descended, Matthias Plake who was married to Milly Goff. My family descended from Matthias through Hiram W Plake, then John T Plake to John Hiram Plake.

Recently I spoke with your dad, Dickie, after he read my letter concerning the Plake Family in the Buna Beacon. I am your cousin with ancestors on the Plake and Dryden sides of the family through my mother, Ethel Lee Plake Youngman. Her parents were Perry Houston Plake and Ada Addnail Dryden. I have done extensive research on Ancestry.com which I will be happy to share with you if you are not already a member. Just let me know.

My father is Charles Morris Plake and was born in Indiana. He lived in Boise Idaho around 30 years ago. He did carry a baby picture in his wallet with the name cori on the back.

Holly, Sence I wrote you last I came across Some of James Elsworth Plake & Flossie Belle Tylers children.They still live in and around Tipton,Ind.One of them is John Thomas Plake.He is 93 yrs old.I have met him and his wife and some of his Brothers & Sisters.And his children.They have a Reunion every year and I've gone the last 2 years now.If you like more on him let me know.And I'll send you his address so you can write him.Thanks for your help.Richard H Osborn

My fathers name was Benjamin Plake and his family was originally from Indiana where they moved back to when my father was 12 and he stayed in Newburg with his grandmother Mary Plake who was married to Steuben Plake. Hi, I am trying to trace my mom's side of the family (along with many other Love relatives) and my Great-Great Grandfather was married to a woman named Carolyn Plake in Indiana (probably the Tipton County area?) in 1878. I found another record that said she passed in 1880. Has anyone heard of her/have knowledge of this marriage?

I have no children recorded for this union--however this may also be inaccurate!

I am hoping by finding records of each of his marriages, I may uncover another name he went by, as some researchers (not myself) have been attempting to discover Ithamer's lineage for many years.

I am searching for information concerning my great-great grandmother Susannah Plake (or Pleake) who was born about 1828 in Indiana. She married Eli Stucker who was the son of Willis Stucker and was born in September 1821. Eli and Susannah were married in Jefferson County, Indiana, on 19 June 1845. (This Eli should not be confused with his slightly older uncle Eli who was the son of Henry Stucker and was born in 1818 and married Esther Ann Plake in Jefferson County, Indiana, on 7 February 1839.)

Eli and Susannah (Plake) Stucker had the following children:

Jasper N. (1852)
Worcester (1855)
Mary Margaret (1858)
Sarah (1859)
Elizabeth (1862)
Emma Bell (1863)
Addie (1865)

Jasper N. Stucker was my great-grandfather. He married several times. His second wife, Mary Elizabeth Bivens, gave birth to my grandmother Mattie Alice Stucker in 1882.

Mattie Alice Stucker married George Fred Stearns in Bartholomew County, Indiana, in 1907 and moved from southeastern Indiana to Vincennes, Indiana, the same year. My father George Harold Stearns was born in 1922 and died in Vincennes in 1993.

I'm not sure if I have the right family-I was married to a Brandon Plake who was in the Marine Corps for 17 years, then moved to washington state. Your mother would be named Tommy. She remarried and I don't know her last name. Last i heard she lived in Colorado. Your father's mother resides in San Diego. Any of this ring a bell? if so, respond and I maybe be able to fill in some blanks.

Don't know where you are from but my husband is a Plake and his family is in Kansas. When our company transfered us to Houston, TX we learned that there is a big Plake family reunion in Huntsville,TX each year. Hope this information points you in a direction to start you hunt.

TIPTON — Settie Estelle Plake, 81, Tipton, died 3:15 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. Born March 1, 1925, in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., she was a daughter of Raymond Dillard and Docia Irene (McAlpin) Short. On Jan. 22, 1949, she married Bobbie Gene Plake and he died July 9, 2002.

She retired from Cuneo Press of Kokomo in 1979 after 20 years of service.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Tipton. She was an avid quilter who also enjoyed knitting and any kind of needle work.

She is survived by her children, Walter H. (Terrie) Plake, Logansport, Sandra K. Barry, Kokomo, Dillard P. (Connie) Plake, Tipton, and Veronica L. (Thomas) Barry, Kokomo; her siblings, Pauline (John) Hunter, Laura Cast, all of Tipton, Imogene (Elmo) Dulworth, Anderson, Elene (Jim) Flowers, Celina, Tenn., and Katherine Vincent, Tipton; 18 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Porter Funeral Home, 726 E. North St., Tipton, with Pastor Ken McClain officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at porterfh.com.

Hi Mr. Baker,

My great grandmother was Dellia May Plake, parents: Sarah Elizabeth Tudor and Sidney Green Plake. I've lost contact with Holly Sullivan; she has more infor on the Plake family than I ever did. Most of my geneology research is in storage in California, not accessible to me.
I did have info on Mathias Plake, if I had it once, it can be re-captured. Best of luck. My ggrandmother lived in Vidor, TX...I know the Plake Family used to be mostly located in Beaumont, TX.

I am searching for information on Dorsey Claude Plake. Is this the same Dorsey C. that joined the National Guard in 1913? Also I found a record of a Dorsey, Fred and Roma M being admitted to the Knightstown Orphan's Home in 1905 and wondered if it was the same Dorsey.

I ran across the names while researching the K-town Home for work. My mother is a Tipton Plake but is not familiar with the names. Her father was Lincoln Earl, brother of James Elsworth.

I have seen the name Roma M Plake, of Tipton Co., IN on a public record as being admitted to the Knightstown Soldiers and Sailors Home in 1905, along with Dorsey Claude and Fred. since then I have been burning with curiosity about the boys, as my mother is a Tipton Plake and hadn't heard of them. I am curious as to how they are related to my mother's line.

They may also be the same Dorsey and Roma who joined the National Guard in 1913, but their county of residence is listed as Knox.

It was purely happenstance running across the names, as I have been researching the K-town home for work. Those two records are the only information I have on the boys, but they are stuck in my head.

I would be ever so grateful for any information you can relate.
