Hello. My name is Lisa Placido and I live in Aweden. As far as I know I don't have any relatives who come from Hawaii but I know the italian origin of my surname. My greatgrandfather was called Antonio Placido and was born in Ripacandida, near Potenza in the province of Basilicata, in Italy. He was born in 1884 and when he was about 20 he emigrated to the US and later ended up in Argentina. His parents were Lucia Labriola and Rocco Placido. Two of his siblings, one named Paolo (Paul) Placido settled in or near Chicago in Illinois. That's the facts I have. I also know that the surname Placido can have it's origin in Spain and perhaps Portugal.
If anyone has any interesting information to share I would be really happy to hear it.
/Lisa Placido

I'm looking for a Placido connection from italy too. I have a Domenica de Placido, a farmer from Monte Cassino, in Italy who raised a little baby girl who was an abandoned child in 1883. Domenica was married to a man calle ? Placido, and her maiden name was Serafina.
can you help? I dont know if the two towns are near each other, geography is not a strong point of mine! LOL
