interested in the PLACIDE side of my family
I am a born of Antigua. My grandfather is a born of Dominica, but his father is a native of Guadeloupe. My grandfather has a sister, now living in Paris, who was born in guadeloupe as Ginette Placide. I was named after her, but my name got misspelled in translation. My mom also have another aunt name Magdeleine Placide who was born in Dominica. My mom was named after her.
Please, if you could help, I will greatly appreciate this. I understand my greatgrandfather travelled alot.

check in New Iberia Louisiana, New York, NY and Los Angeles CA. There is a large history of Placide's in the last 200 or so years coming from New Iberia. Also you can call professional genealogist Ann Anderson in Gulfoport Mississippi. she is expert in creole lineage. email me later and i'll give you here number

I do not know. I'll try and find out. The Dominica I'm speaking of is not the Dominican Republic, but the Commonwealth of Dominica (English-speaking once French). Thank you for replying. I'll inform you as soon as receive more info.
