YOUNGSTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio for John A. Gleydura, 66, who died Thursday, November 7, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 21, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio; a son of Joseph and Veronica (Goske) Gleydura, and he resided in this area all of his life.
He was a 1960 graduate of Ursuline High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967.
He worked for several years for Autumn Industries in Warren, Ohio as a truck mechanic and detailer until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Brendan’s Church. He was a longtime member and past president of the Austintown Eagles Lodge, and he was also a member of the Saxon Club in Youngstown, and the Austintown VFW. He enjoyed golfing, computers, puzzles, and he loved watching The Simpsons.
He married the former JoAnne T. Miller on March 11, 1978, and she preceded him in death Jan. 3, 2009.
He is survived by four children, Troy (Jesse) Melnek of Las Vegas, Candice (Jeffrey) Hall of Boardman, Ohio; Sean (Shannon) Gleydura of Struthers, Ohio and Jon-Paul Gleydura of Las Vegas and a son, Brian Gleydura of Austintown, Ohio. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Troy Jr., Vincent, Cayden, Michael, Abigail, Tyler and Alexis; a grandchild expected to be born soon; three brothers, Joseph (Gerri) Gleydura of Akron, Paul (Ernie) Gleydura of Arizona and Andrew (Terri) Gleydura of South Carolina; and a sister, Julie (Norman) Hahn of Boardman, Ohio.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anna Marie Parish.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home in John’s memory.
