My Grandmother's maiden name was Pizano and
she was born in Calabria, Italy. I'm sure she
was of Italian descent. No one has ever said
otherwise. Pizano is also an Italian slang
word for friend. I guess it's quite a common
name.

Hi friends (maybe relatives):

My name is also Pizano. As far as I know, all my ancestors were born in Cuba in the Camaguey Province and more specifically, in areas near Moron, Falla, Tamarindo and Las Cuevas. Some research I have done indicates that the name is from Italian origin.

I did a search for the name in the US and found over 250 people with that name. Most were residents in Arizona, California, Arizona and Chicago.

I contacted many of them and found that all were of Mexican origin. One older man I talked to told me a story about an Italian immigrant to Mexico who was the "origin" of many of these families.

My father also told me of a family anecdote about a family member who was deported to Panama in the 1800's. I have heard that there are many in Colombia (next to Panama) with this name, including ex-president Ernesto Samper Pizano.

I would like to hear from anyone with any information about our name.

Sincerely,

Celso Pizano

I was born in Mexico City in the 60's ... most of my relatives are also from there and go back to early 1900's. My father said that our name had Italian roots (but he could never remember the name of the town) ... The district in Mexico City (where I have over 100 relatives) is Lomas de Chapultepec ... Good luck to all in their search

I was born in Colombia South America and at the moment I'm residing in NY City.
My ancestros came from Italy in the late 1800, they were three brothers that settled there, one in the Atlantic coast and the other two in the center of the country. One of them introduced the first piano, we have in our family poets, 'escribanos' photographers, politicians, industrials, etc.
