I am researching my Grandfather. His name was
Wiktor Piwowar on his passportbut later
changed to Victor Pevovar. He was a coal
miner in PA. I have the ships manifest that
has his name on it. I also have his
application for citizenship, which shows he
was from Poland or Czechoslovakia.

Hi Stan,
My grandfather was Jan (John) Piwowar, changed
to Pivovar here in the states. Born in 1880, he was from Biesna, Poland.
He came to the US sometime before 1912 (my oldest aunt's
birth year) and married my grandmother Bronislawa (Blanche)
Cwiklik. They lived in McDonald, PA and he also was
a coal miner. Their children were Mary, Stanley!(actually
Adelbert, but that is a LONG story ;)), Frank, Joseph,
and Stella. John died in 1950.

His parents were Jan Piwowar, and Magdalena Truchan.
Jan's parents were Sebastian Piwowar and Maria Wiejaczka.
Magdalena was the dau. of Sebastian Truchan, and
Agatha Fec, there is an accent over the c.

Grandfather had sisters Sophie and Mary, but I know
absolutely nothing about them.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Vickie

I am responding to Marylin Talbot. My grandfathers name was Joseph Piwowar. He was also a coal miner in western PA. I do not have much information about him. I believe he came from Poland in the early 1900's. He came to the US on a ship, I believe with his twin sister and mother. I will try to find more info. If you know of where I could find his record of entering the US, or any other help in finding my family history, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Stanley Piwowar

Hi Victoria,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but my computer was down. It seems that Piwowars did a lot of coal mining when coming to the US. I have also had contact with a Marylin Talbot. Her grand fater was also a miner. If you have any more info about the piwowar family, I would be happy to hear about it.

Happy Holidays,
Stan

Hello,
My name is Robert Piwowar I am the son
of Gerald Piwowar of Detroit. His father
was Joesph, he passed in June of 97.
I am trying to find if my Grandfather had
any children before he married
Mildred Green some time between 1948 - 1950.
There are rumors he married before he went to
fight in WWII. When he came back his then wife
had started a realationship with another man.
Joesph then married my Grandmother, who died
in 1986. I have ran into other Piwowar's while
I was in High-School. One of them was Cheryl
Piwowar, she graduated in 1998. My father does
not talk about Grandpa. My father was the oldest
of four children(Gerald, Elizabeth, Cindy, Debbie
all born in Detroit). Some things I know
about my grandfather are, worked off and on at
Kelsey Hayes as a Tin Smith, Alcoholic, would
not allow my Grandmother to divorce him . She
was often hospitilized from beatings. Even
though this is all I know about him because
of my fathers realationship with him I never
got to hear his stories, or find out if my
Father really does have two half brothers living
the Detroit area. A list of names of people
whom knew a Joseph Piwowar or if you think my
Grandfather is Jan (John) Piwowar's son please
contact me with any bits a chuncks off information.
This will be GREATLY appreciated.

even though he had pu
