Dzien kuje for your reply. What is your name? Where do you live? How old are you? Do you have many family there? How old are the oldest Piwnicki members of your family? Are you anywhere near Marcewo or Maczewo (I'm not sure about the spelling). Thank you for your help.

I married a Piwnicki. His father was Polish, his mother Austrian. I have traveled to both countries.

The English pronunciation of Piwnicki leaves the "w" silent resulting in "Pin-ick-ee". The name does not sound like it it spelled.

My guess would be that your name is a poor phonetic version of Piwnicki probably used by an immiration or government processing agent of some kind back when your ancestors landed in this country.

In Polish, the "w" is pronounced with a "v" sound the pronunciation is "Piv-nit-ski" or "Piv-nit-ska" for girls.

If you want to know more about this name or your ancestors look to Poland.

Hope this helps.
