I have traced my family to the PIvirottos in Vodo di Cadore in Northern Italy (near Austrian border). Specifically they are from the Hamlet of Vinigo in Vodo di Cadore (near Pieve di Cadore). Has anyone had any success on tracking people in this region? The FHL has nothing. Thanks.

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
My grandmother's family too comes from Vinigo around 1900. If you haven't seen it as yet, go to Vinigo.com. I haven't done any research there.

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
Hello! Do you know of a Pivirotto that married a Perantoni in New Jersey? My great-granmother's sister, Marion (don't know if this is her Italian name) married a Perantoni before 1914. My greatgrandmother is Adalgisa (Elsie) Pivirotto. Any connection? And yes, I saw the beautiful web page!

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
I also saw the website for the region. My great grandfather came to the US from Italy. My dad told me that our people came from an area in Northern Italy near the Austrian border called Di Cadore. I looked around on the internet and found that it was actually Vodo Di Cadore. I am told that Di Cadore means "in the valley."

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
I am a Gregori and my grandfather was born in Vodo di cadore. I have been researching the families and have found that I am related to Belfi's, Zampols, Talamini's DelLorenzos and we think there are connections with Pivirottos. The gregori's settled in New Jersey Passaic and actually went back and forth to Vodo quite a bit. Some of the other families ended up in Ohio and Michigan. Would be happy to share info

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
Hi! My name is Francesca Pivirotto, I live in Italy (so i ask you to forgive any grammar mistake...). All Pivirotto all over the world come from Vinigo di Cadore near Belluno: it's a very small village, so you are all relatives and it wouldn't be very difficult to find your ancestry...; Vinigo has also a web-site, I cannot remember the adress. Try to search it. Others surnames as Marchioni, De Lorenzo come from the same village, while Talamini come from the near village Vodo. Greetings...ciao cugini!! Francesca and family

Re: Calling any Pivirottos
I briefly visited Vinigo in May 2007 and was able to meet a 2nd cousin, Silvano Pivirotto, with the help of a man named Giuseppe, who could speak English, from the shop at the bottom of the hill. My great-grandmother, Costantina Pivirotto and her future husband, Giordano Giovanni DeLorenzo, came to America to be married in 1900 in Clifton, New Jersey.
