Looking for the first name of the Piver who married Gertrude Lumsden in late 1800's in Wilmington, NC. Gertrude was called "Dink" by family. The Piver's had two daughters, May who married Frank Hall and Ruth who married John Sisk. No children listed for either of these couples. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

I don't have a lot of information but will share what I do have.

Gertrude E. Lumsden was married first to William Henry Piver. I have no birth or death dates for him. Gertrude was born abt 1868 in Seagate, New Hanover Co., NC and died May 20, 1932 in Seagate, New Hanover Co., NC. She was the daughter of George A. Lumsden and Victoria Firth. I have a copy of her death certificate and a picture of her grave stone.

William Henry Piver was the son of David Piver and Harriet Howard.

William Henry and Gertrude had two daughters.

Mae Augusta Piver - born July 5, 1890 and died April 11, 1962 in Wilmington, New Hanover Co., NC. She married 1st. W. H. Woodson. He was born abt 1862 and died abt 1930. She married 2nd. Henry Franklin Hall. He was born January 9, 1894 and died March 24, 1983.

Ruth Russell Piver was born May 14, 1894 and died January 1, 1976 in Wilmington, New Hanover Co., NC. She married John A. Sisk October 26, 1925 in Wilmington. He was born June 18, 1892 in Hillsville, Carroll Co., VA. and died August 15, 1950 in Wilmington, New Hanover Co., NC. I have pictures of both of their grave stones.

Family lore says that William Henry Piver died before 1908 leaving Gertrude with two small children. Now.......John A. Sisk was the son of Thomas Floyd Sisk. Thomas Floyd Sisk was born Nov 13, 1866 in Carroll Co., VA. and fathered 8 children. His wife died and left him with all those children to raise. It was said he placed an ad in the Wilmington paper for a wife. A mail order bride. Gertrude answered the ad and they married sometime after 1908.

I may have some other pictures.
