Hello, Can't help you with your Pennsylvania Piumas, but I am following a ine of Piumas who were prominent in the Italian community of Los Angeles, California, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. By any chance, do your Pennsylvania Piumas have any connections to my California Piumas?

Dear Charles,

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Piumas in Pennsylvania or California, but I am a Piuma myself and my lineage has been based in the South of Brazil for the last century or so.

I would really like to exchange some info with you about the Piuma migration from Europe to the American Continent.

Please get it touch.

Best regards,

Maria Alice Piuma

Hello

I am from the Piuma family in Pennsylvania. I haven't checked my posting boards lately. I have quite a few records about them. Let me know what you would like to know. I have tracked them back to Achern, Germany in the 1800's. I also found a town in what is now Italy named Piuma, which was part of Austria in the 1700 and 1800's. I would be interested in knowing where your family settled from before they settled in Brazil.

Hope to hear from you

Hello

I am from the Pennsylvania Piumas. My ancestors settled in PA in the late 1800's from Achern, Germany. Although, I have found a town in Northern Italy named Piuma that once was part of Austria in the 1700's and 1800's. Where did your ancestors migrate from before they settled in California. I have also written to the lady in Brazil. I have more information, if you let me know what your interests are.

Thank you and hope to hear from you

Hi Kathleen. My grandmother was a Southern CA Piuma. She was born in CA US (I don't have info with me, but it was around 1889 or so), but her father was born in Italy--I believe. I am presently doing some research on this side of my family and will keep you in mind and let you know if I uncover any next steps. I think that my family came from a town near Milano. What area in PA is your family from? Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Nancy

Just found your posting! Our Piumas came from Achern Germany in the 1870's. I did however find a town in Italy named Piuma near Trieste. The northern area originally was Austrian until the turn of the century. I believe our Piumas must have migrated from the town of Piuma to Germany probably in the early 1800's.

Hello:

From my research I have found that there is a town/village of Piuma part of Gorizio, Italy on the border of Slavinia near Trieste. Our family claims they were German. However, Gorizio was part of the Austro/Hungarian Empire which controlled Germany as well in the 1800's. I believe our "German Piumas" were originally from the Gorizio area. The name Piuma is not German according to my associates. It is Italian. Please give me your input. Our Piumas migrated to the Pennsylvania area around 1820.
