For some time, I have been searching for this couple, who apparently were living in Birmingham, AL, in 1903. The wife is Maude Diffenderfer Pitner, born ca. 1874 in Pennsylvania, most likely near Lewisburg or New Columbia. Maude was reared in Albion, Nebraska, then her family moved to Highlands, NC, and Tallapoosa, Georgia, ca. 1890. Sorry, I do not know what D L stands for. All I have on Maude as an adult is a 1903 letter from a lawyer settling her mother's estate, which lists her as Mrs. D. L. Pitner of Birmingham, AL. The Birmingham Public Library does not have them in the 1904 or 1902 city directories, and the 1903 city directory is missing. Would appreciate any clues.
