Per marriage registration to Charles Joseph Pitcher, her father's name was James Beedle and he was a tin plate worker. Her mother's name was Ann, maiden name unknown. Ann married George Greenslade and was convicted of witchcraft in Cornwall and then of simple larceny. She moved to Wales and practiced fortune telling there and her testimony is featured in two newspaper articles about criminal trials.
