Betzer/Pitcher Family of Dutchess County, NY
Jones in The Palatine Families of New York (1985) shows that the Betzer family changed to Pitcher. I'm looking for the parents of Catherine Pitcher (1762-1802) who married Hendrich Benner, Jr. It appears that Hendrich's mother was Maria Catherine Betzer/Pitcher, daughter of Peter Betzer and Anna Catherine Philips. However, I am unable to find Catherine's parents. Jones' book was no help. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Re: Betzer/Pitcher Family of Dutchess County, NY
Hi, I saw your post and I am hoping you have found your Catherine's parents? I am trying to find my g.g.g.grandfather's line. I believe he too came from Dutchess County, NY. area also. He settled in Schoharie, NY. His name was Horace Pitcher and he married Phoebe Burnet. I found records of their marriage and their children in the Ogden family history. But I can't find Horace's family, parents, siblings, his date and place of birth, etc. I'm wondering if you have come across Horace and/or if he maybe connected to your Catherine? His wife Phoebe was born in 1795, so I can only assume he was born around that time? If you have any info you could share with me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Betzer/Pitcher Family of Dutchess County, NY
Hi Christine,
I did find Catherine's parents - they are Adam Betzer/Pitcher and Anna Maria Richter. They had three daughters who are named in his will. Adam's parents are Peter Betzer/Pitsor and Anna Catherine Philips. Peter, born abt. 1697 in Germany - not much information on him yet.
I have not run across Horace Pitcher and wife Phoebe, but will be on the lookout next time I work on this line.If Horace was born in Dutchess County, he must be related to that bunch. I'm planning a trip to Dutchess County, NY in late Sept. and will watch for him then.
Thanks for your note, Mary Lou
