David,
We are distantly related. Unless there are any
of your family left in Londonderry the last remaining
Pitcaithleys in Ulster are in Whitehead, Co. Antrim - my brothers John and Bill (in their early sixties). There is
also a brother Peter and sister Joy in London. I always
knew there was a Pitcaithley in Londonderry but was
but never knew which branch of the family they came
from. There is an American Pitcaithley who has done some research into the name and who has produced a family tree, so far going back to a marriage in 1804 in Scotland, from whence we all appear to be descended from. Our branch is descended from Robert Ogilvie Pitcaithley who had nine or eleven children all or most of whom appear to have
been born in Belfast in the latter 1800's. If you e-mail me
your address I will mail you a copy, you might be able
to fill in some of the missing names.

Leonard Pitcaithley (father Samuel Magill Pitcaithley son
of Robert)

I just read your email you posted in 2000. I am a descendent of Alexander Pitcaithley, born in Perth Scotland in the late 1800's. He immigrated to the US, and married Hulda Weller. They had 5 children, one of which is my mother. She is now 91. I live in Minnesota and I'm 49. There are a few more Pitcaithley descendents still living, but his offspring only had 7 children.
Are we prehaps related? Thank you.
