I have been looking for Pitcairn/Caldwell Alleghenny County, Western PA for some time. Can you give me any more of your family tree? I show Birdie Pitcairn (1881 - ?) married to my Great Great Uncle, William Caldwell (1875 - ?) children Clifford, Dorothy, William, and Presley.
Any connection?

I am distantly related to this family and I believe your Birdie is the daughter of Frances and Alexander Curry Pitcairn who lived at 120 Shetland Avenue in Pittsburgh in 1900. At that time she had a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Emma. However the birth date I have for her is 1879. I believe her formal name was Bertha.

My source for this information is an early family genealogist and, of course, it could be in error.

I hope this is helpful.

I understand the Pitcairn name was famous in Western PA but I know nothing about them,

I believe Birdie was married to William Caldwell, son of Joseph Caldwell, the long living civil war vet from the Butler area. Joseph and my Great Grandfather, John B. Caldwell (former Sheriff of Butler County) spent several of their final years in close contact.

You can find a Birdie May Pitcairn married to William Caldwell, with a listing of their children, by doing a search on Ancestry.com for "Alexander C Pitcairn", going to the first result that comes up--a member public family tree--then clicking on Birdie May's name.
