I just started my family tree and I would like to know more about were my family came from. I have been in the States for seven years now. I lived in Italy for 23. My great grandparents were Pasquale Pisaniello from S. Martino, Valle Caudina in Avellino and Pasqualina Lanzotti from the same place. The had Giuseppe Pasquale, my gandfather, who married Maria Assunta Franco.

Hi Maria! Welcome to the United States and your search. My grandmother's maiden name was Josephine Pisaniello, I think. At least that's how she says it. She is still alive at 96 and lives in an "extended care facility" in Long Island, New York. Her married name is Josephine Petecca.

I started tracing my family ancestry last fall and have discovered some very interesting things. The most exciting thing has occurred on my father's side of the family (The Garzillis)--a cousin in Argentina found my message, replied, and we have been communicating since then. More recently, another cousin from New Jersey found me. I also communicate with a woman in Italy who shares the last name of Garzilli.

My grandmother I believe was also from San Martin. Is that near Naples? I'll have to do a little more investigating; I'll let you know her parents names, etc. There seem to be a lot of Pisaniellos and related names. What is the meaning of the last name--do you know?

You can write to me directly at brackzilli@juno.com, or just press reply. What state do you live in? I live in New York (near Poughkeepsie).

Hi: My gradfather Albert Lanzotti was born October 24 1899 around or in Naples, Italy. He immigrated to Bronx N.Y when he was about 20 and married Agusta Chirielli. He was a tailor, and I think that is what his family did in Naples, Italy. I think he had at least one brother who remained in Italy. Any information that anyone might have would be most appreciated.

My Fathers name was Joseph Pisaniello, my mother and father separated when I was 3 months old, I found a trace of him and am quiet sure he is desceased and died in California. My father and mother were both in the Army, married and separated when I was 3 months old, I am now 55 years old and am looking for information about the family I never knew.

Linda,
Did you get his death certificate. It would show where he was born and then you could get a birth certificate.
My Dad's name is Joseph Pisaniello and he is alive and well in Simi Valley, California.
We are from New York.
Did you know that the Pisaniellos come from Cervinara Italy. It is Avellino actually.
Good luck.

Joseph Pisaniello

To Lisa Hobson, I received your reply, Thank You so much for a reply of some kind means a lot to me. It was the Social Security Office here in Michigan that told me he was deceased. I don't know that for sure. When my mom and him separated he lived in the Bronx New York. His brothers name was Alphonso and a sister Amelia. I am guessing he would have been in his 70's at this time. I am glad your father is well, I would love to know about mine. Thanks again for your response.

I am 20 years old and have spent my adolescence trying to research my family history from Italy. My father is Bill Lanzotti, his father was Bill Lanzotti Sr.(married Adelia Keller), his father was Andrew Lanzotti(married Elizabeth ?), who came over to america from italy. I was wondering who knew anything about this surname?
