As far as my father told me the Pisani name originates from Malta. During a war hundreds of years ago the some Pisani's fled from Malta and some stayed. The most popular place in Italy that the Pisani name is famous is Serra San Bruno. It is located in the high mountains of Calabria. Most of the Pisani's in Our area do have dark skin, dark hair, dark eyes.

We are from a town called Capistrano. It is about 1/2 hour drive from Serra San Bruno. My great grandmother was from Serra San Bruno and married someone from Capistrano.

Hi, my name is Adam. I read your message and saw that your family came from Capistrano. My Great-grandfather came from the same town. His father's name was Francesco Serrao and his mother was Concetta Pasceri. The Serraos actually came from Filadelfia but the Pasceris have been there from the start Maybe you could send me that names of your ancestors and family there and ask my grandmother if she knows of them.

Hi
I read in your post that you had a Pisani relative from Bari, my grandfather Victor Pisani is from Bari, he had a brother Paulo Pisani I belive he died in 1975 or around there.
Do you have anymore information about the Pisani's in Bari?

Thanks
Ron

I would like to inform all the descendents of Capistrano that a new web site has recently been created about the town in both Italian and English. If you would like to know more about your Capistrano ancestors and the town itself, this is the place to go:

Very interesting - I just joined this group tonight (Nov 2013).
My maternal grandfather was Giovanni Pisani, from Monopoli, IT which is a smaller harbor town very close to Bari. He likely immigrated to NYC area around 1900 (b. 1880) and eventually also lived in New Rochelle NY. After his wife/my grandma died he mived back to Monopoli and lived his life there until he died at 102. I got to visit in 1972 and did meet relatives there.
