Looking for descendants of Fillipo Pioli and Paolina Zanoni of Castiglione di Garfagnana. Known children were Enrico, Ricardo, Massimo, Massima, Alessio, Angelo, Ippolito, Maria-Louisa, Aletta, Alicia. Were more children I believe.

Am trying to find family for my mother, daughter of Ippolito Pioli, born March 18, 1884 in Castiglione di Garfagnana.

Please write,
Brenda

I have recently started researching a family tree but am in the very early stages. My Gradfather, Allessandro Amadeo Pioli who married Maria Rossi, was from Pieve Fosciano, near Castelnuovo. He came to England in about 1906. They had three children, Riccordina Maria, Pietro 1906 and Angelo 1908 (my father) He had brothers, two of whic came to England, one to Scotland and I believe there were others who went to USA and possibly Brazil. I would be interested to know of any information or relationships that yopu may know about.

Best wishes

Michael Pioli

Dear Michael:

I have had your email sent back three times so am going to post it here in hopes you see it! Please write!

Dear Michael:
Wow...more Pioli's to research! I'm not sure if you know that Pieve Fosciana is also very, very near Mozzanella, where my grandfather was born. My sister and her husband were just there in April and met with dozens of cousins that we sort of knew existed, but didn't know full names etc.

Your family tree names are very, very interesting! I have no doubt that we will find a connection if we go back one or two generations.

My ggggrandfather was Bernardo Pioli who married Mattea Rossi. My gggrandfather was Alessandro Pioli who married Cecelia Bertelli. Alessandro was born in 1805 and had Filippo, Gio Batista, Carlotta, Elisa and Chiara.

It is possible that Gio Battista could be the father of your Alessandro or that he could be a grandson of Bernardo!

Have you ever written to the Vital Stats in Italy. I simply wrote to :

Attenzione: Signor Giovanni Morganti
There is a translation site on the internet where I translated a letter and simply asked for the family certificate of Filippo Pioli and Palma Zanoni. From there when I got that information, then I wrote again and asked for more. There was no charge! Castiglione holds the records for Pieve Fosciana and all the other little towns.

You could ask for the family certificate of Allessandro Amadeo Pioli m. Maria Rossi and say that you want the names of Allessandro's father and mother and brothers and sisters. Try to give an approximate date of their marriage if you have it!

If you need any help with the translation machine, whatever, write me and I will do it. I am quite anxious for other Pioli families to try to get info from Castiglione but so far they seem to be afraid to do it. It was quite simple. I did enclose some small souvenirs of where I live - Oliver, B.C. Canada!

I hope that you write me back as I have other names and contacts and think we should start our own little research club! I just discovered on Sunday, my missing family that emigrated to Brazil around 112 years aga. I posted one message at genforum and two hours later, had a reply! Now we are burning up the emails getting to know each other.

So..Michael...write me back and maybe between us, we can tie these families together!

Bye for now,
Brenda
