Bertha Pinamonti, 90, formerly of 166 Colonial Avenue, Natalie, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Grandview Health Home.
Born in Raccoon, Dec. 19, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Slepecki) Gragilla.
Bertha has been a resident of Natalie since 1921.
She graduated in 1938 from Mount Carmel Township High School.
On Nov. 1, 1941, in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Marion Heights, she married the late Albert "Abe" Pinamonti, who preceded her in death, Sept. 24, 1996.
She was employed as a seamstress for 36 years.
Bertha was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, formerly St. Peter's Church, Secular Carmelite Order and Confraternity of the Holy Face of Jesus, both of Elysburg, Divine Redeemer Parish Council of Catholic Women, Altar Rosary Society, church choir and bereavement ministry.
She served as an eucharistic minister to residents of Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, lector, Migrant Ministry Chairperson since 1989 and was a member of the church cleaning group.
She also served as den mother for many years for St. Peter's Cub Pack 3166, was president of the Legion of Mary for 10 years, now a non-active member, co-coordinator of the Daily and First Saturday Rosary Devotions at St. Peter's Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Paulinarians over 50 club of Atlas, Sunflower Club of Shamokin and the Mount Carmel Senior Action Center.
She loved to travel in the U.S. and visited 22 foreign countries.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard A. and Dee Pinamonti, of North Branch, Minn., and James and Jan Pinamonti, of Natalie; four grandchildren, Jennifer Sardeson, of Stacy, Minn., Michelle Husnick, of Harris, Minn., Andrew Pinamonti, of Lancaster, and Tristan Pinamonti, of Reading; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Sean Sardeson, both of Stacy, Minn., and Lauren and Claire Husnick, both of Harris, Minn.; a brother, John Gragilla, of Norristown, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews, as well as six godchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Hanick, Susan MacNutt and Anna Tomchick, and a sister-in-law, Ardis Gragilla.
PINAMONTI — Bertha Pinamonti, 90, formerly of 166 Colonial Avenue, Natalie. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Robert Yohe officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday with the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
