Most families were from Swain county NC,Macon,Graham co.NC

my gfather was harley pilkington his father was george washington pilkington but his mothers name was renea' west they were from one of the counties you mentioned. but the info was that he died in fort worth taxas where his brother lived his brother had 38 children in texas.supposedly george and his brother were adopted by the pilkington family.i dont know if this helps or not but you can contact me at f brackins@aol.com or call at (864)474-1733.

James Pilkington was married to Susie Birtwistle on May 9, 1795 in Lancashire, England. He was the son of James Pilkington and Margaret Chimelin who were married April 9, 1765 also in Lancashire, England. My grandmother was Rutha Cordella Pilkington who married William Andrew Bradshaw.
