I am seeking information regarding my grandmother Eugenia Pilarz. I know she was born in Poland, probably raised in Camden NJ, and lived in Elkton MD during the 1920 census. There was one sister, that I now of, Victoria Pawlak, who lived and raised her family in the Camden. I understand my grandnother used the name Anna or Annie and had remarried a few times due the death of her spouses,Stanislaus Cebula, John Wisniewski and when she died which was I think in the late 1920s, her last name was Taylor. She had five children by Cebula, Emil, Mary, Katherine, Steffie and Frank. One child John by Wisniewski and one child Edward by Taylor. I have all this information, but it has taken me no where. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Iam the son of Edward Pilarz. His father, my grandfather was Walter Pilarz. He immigrated to this country from Osiek Poland which was part of Galicia, this provence or area was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is hard to find records there because it was occupied by the Germans,Ukranine, and Russia.
Look Germany on Family Treemaker.com
Also Walter had two older brothers Joseph and Carl. Walter was third they had a younger sister Elizabeth Pilarz(Mrozek)there was a younger brother who died in Argentinia during a revolution.(This is not been confirmed but is word of mouth from family members). Where I am stuck is back in the old country with my Great grandfather because he had two wives and to speak frankly there was no love lost between these first five childern and the children of the second wife. That is why Joseph the oldest and a shoemaker brought the rest of "his" brothers and sister with him to this country. They all settled in Michigan. except for the youngest.I hope this helps Ihave alittle more info but it only relate to the second wife and I can't confirm what I know from word of mouth.
Happy new year
God Bless You

I am hoping maybe you can help with some Pilarz family information, which I have found nothing!
My great great grandfather was a Martin Pilarz married to Mary Trunk. There children had the last name of Clay and resided in and around the Blair and Cambria County areas of Pennsylvania, specifically Lilly, PA. From the 1910 census. Martin was listed as Austrian. Family members has always said that they were Polish. This is as much information as I know. Anything that you could add would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Sirs,

my family comes originally from Opatowek, Poland. The oldest record I have is the marriage paris from Jan Pilarz with Anna Therin (Dering / Doering?) dated 1834 in Opatowek. It says that Jan was born in Biellard and Anna was born in Gabel. I could never find their origines. Afterwards the family name changed to Pilars and then to Pilars de Pilar.

Do you have any information for me?

Thank you!

Best regards

Christoph

Hi Dave,
I was just looking on this site and noticed the family name of Pilarz. I also noticed that you mentioned the Pilarz settled in Michigan. My Dad had an Uncle named Joseph Pilarz and Joe and his wife, Sophia and their four children (Chester, Josie, Cassie & Theresa) resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From what I understand, Joe Pilarz came over from Poland and first settled in Vicksburg, Michigan. There was a huge paper mill in Vicksburg, Michigan and a lot of Polish people lived there. My Grandmother Mary, Sophia's sister, also lived in Vicksburg with Joe and Sophia. For whatever reason, Joe and Sophia moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joe, in fact, did have a small shoe repair shop. So when I read what you wrote on the blog, it clicked that maybe this was the same Pilarz family that you may be related to. Anyway, my Dad spent a lot of time with Uncle Joe and Aunt Sophia and their children in Grand Rapids. I just thought I would respond after reading your post and I wish you well.

Please excuse my long absence.
My PC Crashed in 2011 and I became a Mac user I have not bought a Family Tree Program for the Mac my brother was doing some surfing and called my attention to your 9 Apr 2011 post.

Yes Chester, Josie, Cassie, Theresa are cousins of mine and my father Edward. When I was a young boy I would visit Chester and Alta and their two sons Leonard and Rudd in Grand Rapids Michigan. Yes there is a family connection here. Rudd still lives in the Grand rapids area and Leonard in Florida. My Dad Edward and Chester were First Cousins.
