Thanks for the message. How old would your Joanna be at that time? I don't really know if the Joanna I have is a married name or maiden name. If she was around 16 that woudn't be too young. Do you know if the names Muszynski (various spellings) or Richard (Rychard) sound familiar? They were around the Krakow, Posen, Alpena areas. I was just curious because she was my mothers godmother and I was just wondering who she might be. Thank you

Hi, I think Johanna would have been about 3 or 4. I am not sure. The name Muszynski does not show up in my research. Richard is the name my grandfather took when he arrived as a first name. Thiose are the only simularities I see. They were from Komorrow, Poland.

Hi Rose--

I am sure you are related to me somehow, even if it is distant. Many of my relatives are buried at St. Casimir's Church, including my Great Grandmother, Rose Hilla. (Maybe you were named after her) Her maiden name was Pilarski. She had a twin sister (I think her name was Dorothy, but I can't be sure) I remember going to visit my busa at the farm in Hawks on Darga Hwy. when I was a little girl, and ran to her thinking she was my busa but my busa came out of the bathroom. I yelled, What? I have TWO busas? I was little, you understand. They looked alot alike, so I assume they were identical twins. I know they had a boatload of brothers and sisters. My grandma was Sally (Salomea) Konczak and my dad is Richard. Dad lives in Alpena, and my brother Jeff just opened a brewery there. Great beer too. Anyhow, I live here in East Jordan, and am just starting to look into my family tree. I wish I could get more information on the Hilla family, but there is not much out there. Do you know where the Pilarskis came from, I can't get farther back than Rogers City. Did they come from Poland or Germany? I would appreciate anything you can tell me. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Kelli

Hi and thank you for replying--
It certainly could have been Dora, and I don't know for sure if they were twins or not. I do remember they looked so much alike that I mistook her for my busa when I was a little girl. I do know that they both married Hillas, and they were brothers too. Philip Hilla was my busa's husband. She died in 1972, I believe. If you have any information on her and her family I would very much appreciate it. I don't remember much about her family except that I did meet this one sister.

I forgot to add that I do not know who Rose's father was, however, I do know that they were one of the first families in the Presque Isle area...

She is the daughter of Bart and Mary Pilarski, Rose had 6 siblings, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Her siblings were named (Starting with the oldest), John, Mary, Kate, Francie, Dora, and Peter.
