John and Annie were my Greatgrandparents. My grandfather was William Charles Pilaske who married Ernestine Schlack and lived in Port Hope MI. My Dad is Emerson Pilaske, who lives on the home place in Port Hope, where my Grandfather farmed all his life. My dad and mother now farm it. There are 3 sisters who are William and Ernestine's children who are still living. There names are Genevieve,Thelma, and Bernice. John and Annie are buried in the Marquardt cemetary in Port HOpe. Any thing else you want to know please e-mail or call me at 1-517-269-8035. Please call after 6. Thanks.

I see this is an old thread, but hopefully some of you are still out there. My great grandmother was Caroline Lidke (Liedke?) from Posen, Germany, b.1853, d.1940. Her husband was Charles H Streip b.1850, m.1874, d.1922 (Karl Strip? I've seen his name spelled LOTS of ways!). They came to Port Hope, Huron, MI in 1881, and spent their lives there. They had 11 children, 9 lived, including my grandpa Fred Streip. I'm trying to find out the Posen roots, but so far, not many leads. Any help? Thanks, Chris

My grandmother ( Emma Pilaske- Prell was Caroline's niece.
My Greatgrandmother (Annie) was pregnant with Emma when they came to this country in 1883 about. I did hear they the name Strip was in Port Hope but nothing about ancestry. From what I had 1 sister and 3 brothers, Martin, John and George that stayed in Germany. Caroline came here. We have a cousin Emmerson Pilaske( Annie's son's Wilhelm son in Port Hope. Maybe e mail me annamay1@hotmail.com. I have not found anything about family in Germany.

Thank you for confirming the family connection. These German surnames sometimes get spelled so many wild and creative ways, it can be hard to make a positive connection. If John Pilaske was from Inowroclaw, Posen, Prussia, and Annie and Caroline were sisters, maybe they lived nearby. I will email you. Good to meet you, cousin! Chris

Just an update to my previous post: I just received an obituary for my great grandmother Caroline Liedke Streip, and it verified that Anna Pilaske was her sister. The records of St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope says Caroline's husband Charles Streip came from Spittan, Posen, which is possibly Szpital, which is near Inowroclaw, Poland.
