VIENNA, Ohio – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, Ohio Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for Paul Pilarcik, 80, who passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 21, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
Paul was born on June 29, 1930, a son of Michael and Catherine (Vozinelic) Pilarcik in Perryopolis, Pa.(Fayette County)
He graduated from Perry High School in 1948 and moved to this area in 1953, having lived in Warren, Ohio and Andover. In 1958, he built a home in Vienna, Ohio where he presently lived.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves, attended school in Toledo and management training for the A & P Company, where he worked for more than 28 years, managing local stores and sales offices in both Youngstown, Ohio and Cleveland and had been supervisor of the district.
He later had worked for General Electric and retired in 1996, from the P.B. Food Brokage Company in Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and of the Lions Club in Andover.
He is survived by his wife, Frances (Kozel) Pilarcik, whom he married Sept. 3, 1953; his daughters, Kate Pilarcik of Bristol, Conn. and Lorri (Ken) Latiolais of Spokane, Wash.; his sons, David (Megan) Pilarcik of Yucaipa, Calif., James (Debbie) Pilarcik of Hudson, Ohio and Jeff Pilarcik of Columbus, Ohio.
He adored his grandchildren, Jesse, Heather, Julie, Josh, Meaghan, Andrew, Sydney, Autumn and Hope and was proud to have three great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Evan and Olivia. His surviving brothers are, William of Linesville, Pa., Thomas of Wilbraham, Mass. and Robert of Clarkston, Michigan.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, John, Joseph, Albert and Charles; and two sisters, Dorothy Bubnash and Mary Higgenbotham.
The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, Ohio.
Burial will be at Vienna Township Cemetery.
Paul loved helping others and as a final gift in his honor his family made the choice to allow the donation of Paul’s skin tissue to aide with medical research and the recovery of surgery and burn victims.
