My great Grandmother was born 3-23-1874 She married George W. Wheeler and they had 9 children including my grandmother. Great Grandma told me stories about her father being a trader with the indians and that they lived along the Illinois River. Does any one have any link to her. Any info would be appreciated.

Becky, I don't think William Jacob Pyland could be Ursula Pyland Wheeler's father she was born 3-23-1874 and I found his birthdate to be May3, 1865. Brother and sister maybe? I really have no leads on who her parents were. The birthdate I have for her was given to me by her daughter,my Grandmother Ruby Fern Wheeler Howell and I don't know where she was born. Any suggestions?

Pilands in America

A couple named Edward and Margaret Pyland in Bristol,Gloucestshire county England had a son named James born Aug. 30, 1604 who came to Jamestown Va in 1642 with his wife Alexandria. James was a member of the first
legislative body in America, the House of Burgesses in Jamestown. He was expelled for bad conduct on 1653 but was reinstated in 1659. He died around 1663 or 64 in the Isle
of Wight county. james had a son named richard who had a son named James II (1687-1728), who had a son named James III.(1715-1756) All of the Pilands in America I believe
can be traced back to this James I who came to Jamestown in 1642. Some moved on into Kentucky and some of those on into Missouri later(1846 Ozark County) and I am related to these Pilands. There are many still in the area not to far from Jamestown.
