Marriage of Clifford Daniel Pike and Eva Juanita Kachelhofer 19 June 1923 in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida - Source: Times Union
St. John's Lutheran church was the scene of a pretty wedding yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock when Miss Eva Juanita Kachelhofer, daughter of Mrs. Effie K. Cordray, became the bride of Mr. Clifford Daniel Pike, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Pike. Rev. W. H. Hiller, pastor of the church, performed the nuptial ceremony assisted by Rev. E. C. Gillette, pastor of the Union Congregational church of which the bridegroom is a member.
The church was beautifully decorated with palms, ferns and daisies. The chancel was adorned with baskets of daisies against a background of greenery.
Mrs. Robert Lee Hutchinson presided at the organ, rendering a program of wedding music while the guests were assembling and just before the entrance of the bridal party Miss Mary Hiller sang At Dawning, and I Love You Truly.
At the appointed hour the bridal party entered to the strains of the bridal chorus from Lohengrin. Entering first were the ushers, Mr. Leo Retneller and Mr. Frank C. Curran, brothers-in-law of the bridegroom. Then came the maid of honor, Miss Ruth Evans, followed by the matron of honor, Mrs. Vernon J. Davenport, sister of the bride. Then came the bride with her brother, Mr. J. P. Cordray, who gave her in marriage. On the chancel steps they were met by the bridegroom and his best man, Mr. Winslow Pike.
The bride was lovely in her wedding gown of white liberty satin, an old fashioned model with basque waist and full skirt, corded over the hips. Her bridal veil of tulle was held in place with a wreath of orange blossoms, and she carried an arm bouquet of brideroses, showered with lilies of the valley.
Mrs. Davenport was attired in lavender crepe de chine, trimmed in georgette of the same shade and wore a becoming picture hat of lavender trimmed with a plume on the right side, Her flowers were pink roses.
Miss Evans was in Pink crepe de chine, trimmed in medallions of frilled lace and wore a picture hat of pink georgette from which pink and blue streamers hung. Pink and blue ribbon was looped from her girdle, falling gracefully below the hem of her skirt on the side. Her flowers were pink.
