Hello REBolduc! I know the message you posted on Ancestry.com is 5 years old, but I thought I'd reply anyway! I also found record of Gilette Pijart listed as the daughter of Adam Pijart and Jaqueline Levachona. I think that Gilette, was, however, their GRANDdaughter, given the dates. Gilette was born 50 years after Jacqueline. At that time one was lucky to even LIVE to see 50. Doubt she gave birth at 50. So, my guess is that her father is a Claude Pijart, which I came across in my research. There is another Claude Pijart, you might see, but he was a Jesuit Priest -- one of the first in Canada/Nouvelle France! Please let me know if you have more PIJART details, or if you'd like to see my tree!!!
Sincerely,
Cally
P.S. I would love to have any info you have on the Bolducs!

Not sure if you still have the same email to get a notice of this reply to your posting, Cally, but I am interested in more information on Pijart and Bolduc. I descend from this family also.

Anyone else who has more Pijart info from Claude and his father Adam would be appreciated.

Jennifer

Hi, Jennifer!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My son was born 2 weeks before you sent the message and things have been a bit busy since then!! What information are you looking for, specifically? The furthest back I go for Pijart is to Adam, born in 1570 in the neighborhood of St-Benoît, in Paris. For the Bolduc/Boulduc side, I've gotten back as far as an Henri Boulduc, born in 1489 in the city of Senlis, France (Oise department, region of Picardie). Let me know if you want to know about anyone's professions or anything else!
All the Best,
Cally

If any read French, the following abstract is absolutely vital, published in the Revue d'histoire de la Pharmacie, October 2007, Volume 355, pp 361-370. It is a Geneological Study of the Pijart Dynasty, Goldsmiths or Apothocaries in Paris, 16th and 17th Centuries, by Christian Warolin, based on the work of Mme Michèle Bimbenet-Privat during a commission she did for the city of Paris in 1992. It is extremely well-sourced and peer-reviewed, several documents cited are available on the internet upon search and do match what we find here.

Relating to your inquiries about the family Pijart:

Gillette Pijart (bapt 20 Nov 1618) is the daughter of Adam Pijart, goldsmith, and Jacqueline Le Charron, not their grand-daughter. The dates on several searched genealogical trees for 1623 are incorrect, and her parents Adam and Jacqueline were nearer to 30 when she was born. She married Pierre Boulduc on 27 December 1639 and had several children, prominently Simon and Louis Bolduc, whom many of us trace our Quebec roots to.

Adam Pijart (bapt 18 Jan 1587) is the son of Claude the Elder (two brothers named Claude, why choose another name when Claude is clearly so awesome?), goldsmith, and Catherine Lebrun. He married Jacqueline Le Charron on 13 March, 1611. His parents were listed in attendance at the wedding, as was his cousin, Pierre Pijart, a doctor-régent. Jacqueline's parents were Claude Le Charron, a goldsmith from Pont-au-Change, and Gillette Boulanger. Could it be that our Gillette was named after this grandmother? The historian Laborde tells us there were several children of the marriage between Adam Pijart and Jacqueline Le Charron, Gillette is the most famous having joined the prestigious Bouldoc family.

Adam had two brothers, his younger brother was Pierre Pijart (bapt 21 April 1593), a goldsmith. The abstract gives no more detail for him. His older brother is François Pijart (bapt 1 January 1577). François married Anne Lindo on 29 January 1612. His parents and brother Adam were present, but the abstract doesn't note if Pierre witnessed. François was a goldsmith in Pont-au-Change, part of the parrish of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie. François and Anne had a son, Nicholas (bapt 2 November 1614).

Adam, François and Pierre's father Claude Pijart (also a goldsmith) was born 23 October 1543, and married Catherine Lebrun (b 1557). He was the son of Pierre Pijart, master goldsmith, and Marie de Mézières. His wife preceded him in death as we see by her will, she died 9 July 1612, but naming as guardian for young Pierre his cousin Pierre Pijart, Doctor-régent at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. Claude died 23 April 1614 and is buried at Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie.

Claude's father Pierre was married twice, and had at least seven sons, including three with his later wife, Marie de Mézières, all named Claude. I do not know what happened to the third Claude or if he did not survive childhood, but two Claudes would become goldsmiths. He also had at least one daughter with Marie, Marguerite Pijart, who was baptized in 1555. Pierre was probably born in 1502, and first married Philippe Dusseau, from a family of apothocaries, including her brother, half-brother and father-in-law. They were married on 23 July 1524. The couple had four sons, the eldest François would become an apothocary, while the other three: Jacques (b. 1526), Jehan, and Philibert (bapt 19 December 1534), followed their father into the goldsmith trade. Philippe died 24 September 1542 and Claude remarried Marie de Mézières shortly thereafter (first son Claude was born just thirteen months after). Many of the siblings from both marriages attended each others weddings and were godparents to each others and cousins' children.

Pierre Pijart was the eldest son of Michel Pijart, the earliest known Pijart in this line, and also a goldsmith. He entered the goldsmith guild in 1507, and died sometime before 23 July 1524 when his wife, Jehanne Daumont was listed as a widow at her son Pierre's wedding (to Philippe Dusseau). Michel and Jehanne would have at least four sons including Pierre, Michel, Jehan, and Nicolas. All became goldsmiths.

Michel (the younger, and second son of Michel) married Claude Hertault on 7 November 1530, the daughter of the merchant Simon Hertault and Catherine de Neufville, and would have a son, named Michel (the even younger, and also a goldsmith). He would remarry on 22 June 1548 to Claude Eustace, the daughter of Charles Eustace, goldsmith following his wife Claude Hertault's death. He died just before 8 August 1555 when his possessions passed on to family as directed by his wife Claude Eustace. Michel and Claude Hertault's son Michel would go on to marry Jeanne Langlois and have a son of their own named Michel. He too would learn the family trade and become a goldsmith.

Pierre's brother Nicholas we have little further information on, except that a future will with him and his brothers as inheritants lists him as a goldsmith, and he approves of his nephew's marriage proposal in September of 1568. He is the youngest of the four sons of Michel and Jehanne Daumont.

The second youngest son of Michel and Jehanne Daumont, Jehan, would marry Marguerite Leconte. He died 29 October 1557 and listed that he was a goldsmith in Pont-au-Change. He had two sons, Pierre and Jehan, and both would follow him into the goldsmith trade. Pierre goes by Pierre the younger and is engaged to Isabelle Busson, daughter of Jehan Busson, a lawyer, and Isabelle Chabot, on 12 September 1568. His mother Marguerite and his uncle Nicholas both agree to the arrangement.

We can go no further back with either Michel Pijart or his wife Jehanne Daumont, though we have one more relative, Jehanne's brother, Jehan, whose will is dated 14 June 1555 with his inheritance going to his sister's children.

There are more names and further Pijarts listed, but these were the most direct family links to Gillette Pijart and Pierre Boulduc. Please use the link to explore more, including two family tree tables and source materials:
