Daniel,
I have quite a lot of information about
the PIGG family. In fact, you're in my
database! My grandmother, Imogene PIGG, is
your second cousin (daughter of Dennie, who
is the son of Theodore, who is the son of
William J. PIGG).
Ruth Burbage who has posted some
messages in this forum is a cousin of ours.

Joe, I have a copy of the obituaray of William Jefferson Pigg plus a picture of him and it tells me that his father and mother was James and Sarah Pigg, who were born in Patrick Co. Virginia one of 13 children. He was born in Floyd Co. Ky., Nov. 14, 1832, and died Aug. 28, 1913 at age 80 years, 9 months and 14 days. at that time he was survived by seven children, Luther, Lindsely, Virgie, Dore (Theodore), Arby, Jim and Chattie Pigg Hays. Ruth Burbage has Lewis as his Father but that would be wrong. The dates that she has are off by 16 years. We need more info. The census records record him as being the age that his obituraray has. Maybe you can enlighten me there. Also My Grandfather is Ezekiel Stanton Pigg who is his son. Thank You and waiting for a reply.

Daniel,
First, I want to thank you for writing
the Pigg family booklet in 1993. My mother
obtained it from some relatives, and it has
been very helpful in my research. You did
quite a bit of work. Thanks!
There was a William Jefferson PIGG born
in Kentucky in 1815. He married Julia Roy,
and they lived in Missouri. The parents of
this William are Lewis PIGG and Sarah
MCWHORTER. This William died 9 JAN 1886, in
Orrick, Missouri. He appears on the 1850
census for Ray County, MO as Jefferson PIGG,
age 35 with wife Julia and five children.
I have our William Jefferson PIGG as
being born on the date you had mentioned, and
he appears in the census of Lawrence Co, KY
in 1850, 1870, and 1880.
So, it looks certain that these are
two different Williams. I hope this helps!
I have not been able to find any info
on James and Sarah Pigg from Patrick Co, Va,
except what you published in 1993. Did you
find out anything?

Joe, Thanks for replying. I am thinking that Lewis and James were brothers and that is the route I am searching now. It is mighty strange that in that lineage of that particular William Jefferson Pigg that so many of the names appear the same except the birth dates are off by that many years. Sounds interesting to say the least. My wife helped with all the research and does most of the putting it together. She is the typer and the organizer of it. We have been working on it for quite sometime. Would love to know if you have any info on Phillip Pigg of Virginia. We are always invited to their reunion on Memorial Day every year and sometime plan to get to it. Just seems that something always comes up and plans change. Who is your Mother? More later. Thanks much for your correspondence. Daniel.

Hello, cousin! Rev. William J. Pigg was my GGF.
His son Virgil Ray Pigg, Sr. was my grandfather, and
his son Virgil Ray Pigg, Jr. (called Ray) was my
father. I've been searching for what seems like forever
for info on William's ancestors, and just happened
to have someone else reply to another posting yesterday
by sending me a copy of the James and Sarah Goble Pigg
decendancy info authored by YOU! I just returned from a
research trip to Lawrence Co. and am still collating the
data. I can share whatever I have that you may need. Do
you know anything about James Pigg's or Sarah Goble's
ancestors? I look forward to hearing from you. You can email
me at JUANHAHN@aol.com.

Hello Cousin, I received your email and was very happy to hear from you. All I can tell you about James Pigg and Sarah Goble is that they married. James was from Patrick Co, VA and I haven't been able to dig anything else up at this time. I have a lot of information from William Jefferson Pigg's lineage and so glad that I am locating so many cousins. There are a lot of Pigg's in Mt. Vernon, IL and also in Sullivan Indiana. About seven familes of Piggs live in the Terre Haute, IN area. We are in Paris, IL and have been down to Lawerence Co. KY on many occasions getting information and spent many hours in the Public Library at Terre Haute going thru census records. Maybe we can all get connected and share information and get to know one another. Until I hear again from you I remain your Cousin, Daniel Earl Pigg

Daniel, Joe Plegge very kindly sent me a copy of your Pigg information. I am a descendant of James Sarah Goble Pigg's son James, who married Frances (Fannie) Jordan.

Several years ago a cousin sent me some notes from a text by Edward F. Haley about the Pigg Family. According to him the family is of English origin and immigrated to the new world (to Virginia) in about 1650. The notes give extensive information about the first 4 generations in America, but I was unable to make a definite connection. However after reading your information, my own information and these notes, I believe that James, who married Sarah Goble, was a son of William (4th generation) and Mary (surname unknown; as was the Lewis you thought might be a brother of James.

William's will lists his children as: Patsy Slatus, John Pigg, Anderson Pigg, Elizabeth Payne, William Pigg, James Pigg, Lewis Pigg, Paul Pigg, Sally Burks, Nancy Pigg, Rosemon Burton, and Polly McWhorter.

William Pigg (4th generation) was a son of Paul Pigg (3rd generation) and Sarah, his second wife. Paul's first wife was Elizabeth Osborne. Paul had 3 children with Elizabeth and 7 with Sarah.

Mr. Haley listed John and Jane Pigg of King and Queen County, Virginia as the immigrant ancestors. Apparently John was a Cavalier and supporter of King Charles and came to Virginia to escape the Cromwellian persecution. John became a large landowner in Virginia.

The notes are a bit confusing when I try to determine the connections between second and third generations.

Have you read the text by Mr. Haley? The notes I was given were incomplete and my cousin said that Mr. Haley had intended to publish his findings but had died before he had completed his work. I don't know how she came by the notes. I found the note very interesting.

BTW - I grew up in Paintsville, not far from Louisa.

I'm searching for this ancestor of mine. In my records, Martha was born in Sullivan, Indiana, but I can't find anything about her father. If anyone has this information, I would really appreciate it!
