I am not African American but I do Know there are a lot of African American Pigfords in Wilmington North Carolina. I proably can't be of much help but I could look up names for you if you would like.

why thank you Kristen, I really appreciate any help I can get. It is hard when you live so far away.
I am looking for a William Wright Pigford born in 1845.Everything else is sketchy.
If I can be of help out Arizona way let me know

William is supposedly a mulatto or possibly african american mixed with Indian.

The only William I have around that time is White sorry. May be your William is a decendant though. Let me know if I can be of any more help in NC

I have a listing of a William Wright Pigford born June Aug 18 1842 he was born in Lauder County Mississippi he died June 23 1862. Let me know if this helps. dll1949@aol.com

Supposedly our Great-granduncle Owen Lucien Pigford (Who was in Nathan Bedford Forrests Cavalry) had a son by a family slave that he brought with him to Texas after the war. Interesting he had two daughters, I believe only one lived to maturity, I'm not sure if the surviving daughter married or not. I'm unsure of all the details but will dig around for you if you want

my grandfather was Hardy Pigford and my grand mother Lula Pigford my great grandfather was William Pigford I'm donot know their birthdays but the times would be somewhere around that time and I think he was born in N. Carolina as my mother was born in 1930 as we seem to be a mixed family I would like to hear from anyone who might have some infromation...thank you..Theresa
