Surnames: Pigeon, Shannon
I became curious about the origin of the name. I have a Mary Pigeon or Pidgin, born about 1800-1810, from County Roscommon is Ireland. She married an Patrick Shannon and died about 1841 from cholera. Mary also had a sister named Rose Pigeon.

I cannot find any evidence of the name Pigeon in current-day Ireland, although there are many in England.
