First...in some census reports you will find that Alfred shows up as PUJOS, rather than PIGEAU. His parents were as follows:
Father: Pierre Pigeau, B. 20 Dec 1832, St. Sulpice, L'Assomption Que/D. 29 June Mattawa

Mother: Marianne BECHAMP (aka DESCHAMPS, BECHANT, "Pinikiskoque") B: 28 Jan 1836/ D. 18 Apr 1903 (she was buried at Mattawa, but is apparently on the 1902 Census for the Garden River Reserve, Ont...It is through here that increasing descendents are obtaining Metis status)

Thanks very much - it is kind of you to share this information - I had been raised knowing that Alfred was algonquin but we had not done the historical work to determine where he came from except that it is relatively well known that many alqonquins had not been surveyed in the mid-1800s and thus forced towards manitoulin island by Bondhead, the governor of the day, in order to clear land for settlers and - or, other corporate interests

its nice to connect with a long lost cousin

You will discover that Alfred's line originates with the Ojibway of Golden Lake (ON) and Maniwaki (PQ). I remember your mother and and aunt's n' uncles possessing native attributes...I have a pic or two with Loretta alongside Alfred and his wife Annie, when they lived on Degrassi St. in Toronto....feel free to send me an email addy if you would like them forwarded to you. Annie too was native, but I don't have specific details about her people's tribal affiliation... It's nice to hear from you too...I remember Mike well as we spent some time in the same class at school...my email is tpigeau@rogers.com
