Hi,
William E. Piffer was born 29 jun 1861. He married 19 oct 1884 to Louesa Dusickle. They are buried at Maple Hill cem., Tipp City, Miami, OH. They lived in Miami co., but unsure as to where they were born maybe married there. William and Louesa had at least 2 daughters, my aunt remembers Grandma saying there may have been twin girls. According to Grandma, William and Louesa were killed in a train accident. I don't know if they were on the train, hit by it, or what. I had always thought they died together. But I have now seen the cemetery record. William died 21 mar 1889 at age 27, 8 mos. 22 days. Louesa died 5 sep 1889 age 22, 3 mos. 21 days. Maybe they died because of injuries from the accident. Buried with them is Minnie d. 19 jun 1889 age 1 yr 8 mos. dau of W E Piffer. Their other daughter is Jennie May Piffer born 19 oct 1884 in Tipp City. (county birth record I think, although the family had listed birth as 13 oct 1884. On her marriage record she is said to be 18 yrs. old). Which ever, but if there were twins, where is the other daughter? Jennie married Jesse Carter Calloway. Now if Minnie died at age 1, Jennie and another sister were raised by Uncle Fred and Aunt Lilly (if I remember her name from Grandma, I'll have to look in her letters). Anyway, grandma always said that 2 girls were raised by them after the parents died. In the Maple Hill cem. are Frederick Dusickle 1862- 7 may 1939 died in Tipp City
and Matilda Dusickle 1868- 26 feb 1942 died in Kentucky. (Kentucky death record found. She was 73, died in Fayette co. same date). Since grandma refered to them as Aunt and Uncle, I assume they were married as opposed to single brother and sister. Also buried with the Dusickles were Rebecca Dusickle d. 15 aug 1902 abe 68-5-24 wife of R (no burial record) and Rudolph Dusickle d. 3 jun 1904 age 72-4-3 Military Tipp City. I have to send for a military record, but could these two be Fred and Louesa's parents?
Also buried with the Piffers was Catharine Piffer buried 18 mar 1891 age 55 (GK file)I don't know what that means. Could Catharine be William's mother? If her husband is not buried with them or in the cem., they must have come from somewhere else or he was somewhere else when he died, perhaps a war.
This family has been a mystery for ever! I have just seen the cemeterey records in the past month so now I am searching these clues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not able to get to Miami co. except on trips back home to Dayton every few years. I'm hoping someone will see this posting and know about either family.

Surnames: Piffer, Ducikle (Dusickle)
The 1880 census for Covington, Miami, Ohio page 172A shows Jacob Piffer, laborer, age 49 birthplace Baden (as where his parents)
wife Catharine Piffer, keeps house, age 47, born in PA (as were her parents)
son William, laborer, age 17, born in PA. Fa: Baden Mo: PA
son David, at home, age 12, born in OH Fa: Baden Mo: PA

William goes on to marry Louisa Dusickle (Lousia Ducikle on 1880 census).

Louisa's was listed as living in Tippecanoe, Miami, Ohio with Rudolph Ducikle, cooper, age 40 birthplace Switzerland (as were parents) and Rebeca Ducikle, wife, age 56 birthplace OH
(parents born in PA). These ages do not match up with the cemetery records. But Louisa is listed as other in the relationship column along with Tunie Ducikle, and Anna Ducikle. Are there other Ducikle families in Ohio or are these children adopted. Wouldn't the census listed them as adopted especially if their last names are recorded as Ducikle?

I hope some one knows more about Jacob and Catharine and now their son David.
