MANSFIELD: Fred E. Pifer, age 74 of Mansfield, Ohio, died Friday afternoon May 16, 2014 at his home.
Born March 13, 1940 in Shelby, Ohio to Wilbur & Iva (Boyce) Pifer, he has been a Richland County, Ohio resident his entire life.
Fred had served in the United States Army and had worked as a maintenence at Logan Place Apartments.
He had previously worked at Kissel Tractor Sales as a mechanic for 34 years.
Fred has also been a 50 year volunteer firefighter for Franklin Township as an EMT and was also the treasurer for the fire department.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Miller) Pifer, whom he married May 18, 2014, of Mansfield, OH; daughter, Michelle (Eric) Huddleston of Lake Ridge, VA; two grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffany Huddleston and one brother, Marvin (Cheryl) Pifer of Lake Placid, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roger Pifer.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday May, 23, 2014 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Deacon Steve Keller will officiate with interment held in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 PM.Memorial expressions may be made to the Franklin Township Fire Department.
