Eugene W. Pier, age 73,
of Wesleyville, formerly of Corry, died on Tuesday December 8, 2009, at Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 6, 1936, in Corry, Pa., to the late Walter and Opal Morris Pier. Eugene graduated from Corry High School and was formerly employed at General Electric for 31 years until retirement. He served in the United States Army in the 194th Artillery Division. Eugene was a member of G.E. - R.A.G.E. and enjoyed hunting and trips to Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy L. McClelland Pier, whom he married June 24, 1964; sons, James E. Pier and wife, Leann, of Harborcreek, Jeremy F. Pier and wife, Jennifer, of Wattsburg, Jason R. Pier and wife, Ann, of Harborcreek; brothers, Donald Pier and wife, Thelma, of Spartanburg, Norman Pier and wife, Garnet, of Wattsburg; sisters, Shirley Ann Dunnewold and husband, Allen of Cambridge Springs, Twila Mae Johnson of Columbus; and nine grandchildren. Elkin Funeral, 65 South Lake Street North East on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with full military honors.
