My grandmother was a Pire, from Bolivar NY. I know that her father was James Pire, his father was Oscar Pire and his father was Russel (one "L") Pier. Apparently, Oscar changed the spelling of the name. I have found him with both spellings.
I think I have traced this family all the way back to Thomas Pier, who was born in England in 1625, but there is a fuzzy are and I can't verify it.
I need to confirm that the Russel Pier in the 1870 Bolivar census is the son of Thomas Pier's son Silas. Pier genealogy records say that Russell was born in Guilford NY, so I need to find out if he moved from Guilford to Bolivar.
I can't completely draw a conclusion using what I have right now. If this is true, then my family has a Revolutionary War patriot (Thomas) in our background and I would love to get my grandmother a membership to the DAR.
Can anyone help me? Thanks!!
