Just started looking up info in hopes to surprise my sick father with some kind of family history.
Without making him suspicious, I asked questions about his parents. His father immigrated from Poland as a teenager, settled in Chicago on Ashland Av. and died of TB in '37 or '38. He told me his fathers name. He didn't know how to spell it, but said it's the same as Constantine(?). Going to the Ellis Island website, I found a record of Konsfanty Piechna. The short profile seems to fit the little bit of info I was able to get from my father.
My fathers mothers maiden name was Magdalen Maka.

Lora,
You know when and where your grandfather died. Get his death certificate from the Chicago vital statistics to find out the name of his parents. Were they from Wojnicz or some other town? Have you any aunts or uncles who would have some information? After you get the death cert. contact the cemetery, (it will be on the certificate) for any info they have and they should tell you the church he belonged to. Do all of this asap and get back to me, we may be related.

I think that we may be related. I too was on the Ellis Island Website looking for info on my paternal grandparents. Everything you have posted is the same. Did you get any more information.

We probably are related. I put my grandfather, Jan Piechna,
on the Ellis Island wall. He was the son of Ignacy, and the
grandson of Ludwik. Ludwik was married 3 times. Which
branch are you descended from? I am especially interested
in the Piechnas in Chicago as I know we are related.

Lora and Linda, Post what you know about your family and
I will try and see how it fits in with Ludwik and his 3 wives.
Our family is from the first wife but I have info on the others too. Is anyone related to Stanley of Chicago?

Doris, My father is Stanley. His father was Constantine/Konsfanty. His mother was Magdalen. There were 2 other Piechna children. His mother was married before Constantine and she had several Bojan children.

Doris, Do you have any more info on the Chicago Piechna's. As I said before, my father is Stanley. He had a brother Chester, and a sister Sophie. They and I grew up in the Chicago Bridgeport area. Everything I have seen you and Lora post is the same. We are really interested. Thanks!
