Re: Pider Family in Hesperia Michigan
My name is Elaine Page-Benson - but I go by the nickname "Kit". My Dad (a Page) came from Ferry, MI. His entire family on both side (both his mother's side and his father's side) were early settlers of Oceana Co., MI. They migrated to MI in the mid 1800s and migrated to Oceana Co. Your sur names that you listed don't seem familiar, but I am still putting my Dad's family into the family tree maker program. I have put in all of my Mother's side and now working on my Dad's side. My mom has been doing both sides of the family's genealogy for over 55 years (she's 83 and still going strong). My Mom lives in DE - where I lived before moving out west with my husband. My husband and I moved to Dugway (Army base), UT in 2000. We've been taking advantage of the family history library while we are out here. Anyway - I own copies of many of the Oceana Co., MI cemetery books (most stop around 1980 for internments, but are certainly helpful)! I have the West Hesperia Cemetery book, where many of my ancestors are interred, as well as the Ferry Cemetery, Hart Cemetery and MANY others! I also have the 1990 and the 1992 Oceana County, Michigan Genealogical Historical Books that are FULL of family histories. If you haven't seen these 2 books, they were created by various members of the historical society and of members of the community and contain a wealth of pictures and information. Each family that was involved in the project submitted various articles about their family, their grandparent's family, etc. along with photos. I looked in the index and saw several Pider names - Beatrix Pider, Blanche Pider, Brandon, Catherine, Charles, Cora, Dan, Dennis, Doug, Douglas, Earl, Edna, Elizabeth, Esta, Ethelyn, Evan, George, Gladys, Ida Mae, Kathy, Larry, Leah, Mary, Max, Roberta, Scott, Sharon, Valora, Vivian, William. There are also several Strong surnames in that county listed in the books. If you can't climb the direct mountain, you have to walk around to get to the other side - which means that you have to stretch out your genealogy tree to include all the cousins in order to get many of your own direct ancestors. I don't mind helping those who have ancestors that hailed from the Oceana Co., MI area as long as they are willing to sort through their cousins in order to get their own tree. I don't mind helping because so far I've helped 3 people from Oceana Co. and found out after looking at their trees that we were distant cousins! Helping others from Oceana Co. helps me fill in my blanks, too! So - if you are interested in what I have and seak any look ups in cemeteries and would like to share info if we locate any cousins that we have in common, then please e-mail me -

Re: Pider Family in Hesperia Michigan
Hi! I have quite a few Branstrom surnames in my tree, but I haven't put all of my Dad's family into the FTM program yet - but here are the ones that I DO have in the program at present: Arthur M. Branstrom (6/17/1893-11/15/1968); Alida Young Branstrom (3/26/1890-11/20/1988; Bobby Branstrom; Charles Branstrom (4/1/1899-5/1987); Deborah Branstrom; Douglas Arthur Branstrom (12/27/1917-?); Dweight Morris Branstrom (11/30/1913-11/3/1963); Ellen Gelderloos Branstrom; Fred Branstrom (5/4/1889-8/1970); Harold Branstrom (2/8/1904-10/1971); Keith Monroe Branstrom (1/10/1920-?); Ruth Branstrom; Max Bert Branstrom (3/27/1916-?) Ida May Powers married William Young and their child Alida Young married Arthur Branstrom. I met several Branstroms whenever we attended family reunions when my dad was alive. His family came from Oceana County. My maiden name is Page - but my other main surnames are Whitcomb, Powers, Landon, Woodward. Ida Powers-Young's parents were Ephriam Powers and Mary Jane Landon - so this is a direct connection to my ancestry. Hope you'll wish to e-mail me - maybe we can swap info! Kit Benson
