Hi Linda
I posted a copy of Richard Piddington's will on a facebook group called genealogy translations and they came up with the following.
In the name of God Amen. In the year of our Lord ------ ____ day of April I Richard Pidyington ________ make my testatement in the manner and form following: First I bequeath my Soul unto Almighty God and to the _____ and to all? ____ my body to be buried in the churchyard of Codyngton __. I bequeath to _______ of ________ i bequeath to the __________ a quarter of ____ I bequeath to _________ of )))))). I bequeath to my poor _____ a ____ of for ___. I bequeath to Harry Pidyinton and to ___ pidyngton my ____ of my goods not bequeatherd that ____ vinyard for my ___- I will that --- Charles Sylayne? Robert _____ made a__- by
I bequeath to Harry Piddington and to Margaret(?) Piddington my farms the ....of my goods not bequeathed
I'm not sure about Margaret, on the next line the name has an i in it. The relationship between Harry and her isn't specified as far as I have seen Maybe they weren't sure how to spell the name, further down it appears with a y!!
I .... that Charles Sylayne, Robert Sandoff (?) , John Holhin, John Bernard make a....... by ..............Harry and Mygaret as they think ....... this my last will B Charles Sylayne Robert Sandoff(?) John Hollin John Bernard.

Did you ever have any luck with the translation of the will your self ? The copy is very blurred and was hoping for a wife's name for Richard.

Hi Carolyn - Thanks for asking. I am trying to put everything I have online - but I have so much that it is taking a while. I had an awesome group here on Rootsweb that are experts in Old English help me with Richard's will. Here it is - Old English spelling included. :) Unfortunately no name for his wife.

Thanks Linda
I am hoping that the Buckinghamshire family history group soon does a transcript of Cuddington parish records. I have just started pulling out any mention of Piddington in any Bucks and Oxfordshire record transcripts I have. Hopefully someday we can figure them all out.
