Interested in the Pidds of Crowle, particularly those with some kind of Italian connection... Lorenzo, Adolphus, Keziah, and even a Garibaldi. Don't know how they fit together and would like to know. Also where the Italian influence comes from, assume there's a woman in there somewhere lol.

Hi there,

Very interested to see that someone else is interested in the PIDD family of Crowle.

I am descended from the very same people you mention - Keziah Pidd was my great grandmother and Lorenzo her father. Must say that I was excited about the prospect of an italian influence in the family when I first started researching but it was never forthcoming. Lorenzo was illegitimate so the influence may have come from his father's side.

I'm very interested to know your connection to this family. I have an extensive amount of information on the PIDDs of Crowle taken from parish records, wills, newspapers etc and would be more than happy to share.

Best Wishes,
Tracey Bailey - Derby, England

Personally I've no connection to the Pidd family. That post was put on here during a quiet night chatting to a friend who has.

As far as I can remember she was decended from Keziah and Albert Graves(?) via their eldest son Marcus and Rose Hall.

Didn't Lorenzo have an older brother called Garibaldi (Garry/Gary later)?

As I say though, it was a while ago and I hadn't delved very deeply. I've passed on your post to my friend.

I am directly descended from Kezia Pidd and Linton Pidd (my g.g.grandfather) -who was Lorenzo's grandfather - and have carried out extensive reserach into the Pidds of Crowle. Like you I've always been intrigued by the Italian link, but despite tantalising clues haven't been able to fully explain it. Please get in touch.
