We may be related. My name is John Picardi. My great grandfather was Giuseppe Marie Picardi. He too was from Chiusano di San Domenico. He had a brother James (Giacomo). According to my research, his wife was also Lucia. My dad remembers your grandfather and the family well. I recently hired a researcher and have a lot of the family tree. Let me know if you are interested in sharing info.

I read your posting. My grandparents were Luigi Picardi and Philomena Marotta, both from Chiusano, Avellino, Italy. Philomena's siblings were Josephina, Amato, Orlando and Matilda, maybe others. Luigi's sisters were Caroline and Mary. My grandparents immigrated to Boston in the early 1900's. They had 7 children: William, Ralph, Louis, Arthur, John, Leonard, and Catherine. I would be very interested in any family tree information that you have. My father told me that his parents home town was small, so I am guessing we must be related.

My name is John Picardi, I am the great grandson of Giuseppe Maria Picardi, the oldest brother of Giacomo (James). I do have a death date for a death date for Louis in NYC. I have yet to research this totally. Just need to head to NYC to see if it is this Louis. On ancestry.com a Louis Picardi is listed in Social Security Deaths. It is his birthday.
I also have extended research into our italian roots. I can go back to the late 1700's-early 1800's. I have also been to Chiusano and have pictures.
Would like to share all information that I have.
I too have found that John disappears from sight as well.
Did you know that Giacomo & Lucia were first cousins??
Hope to hear from you!

Hey John, have you found any info about Dell'orfanos in your research in chuisano? My great grand father Michele, born 1878, came here with his wife Philomena Cataldo around the turn of the century and had a big family in east boston. He also had cousins in the north end, one being Raffaele dell'orfano. Micheles parents were Raffaele and Carmella, they owned a vineyard, and they had at least one other son Massimino. Michele also had an uncle Arcangelo Picardi at 168 North St in the North End in 1903, who he listed as the person he was staying with on what I think was his second trip to Boston. Other names that my family believed we had a connection to are carlo cataldo, raffaele cataldo, michelangelo dell'orfano, frederick dell'orfano. If any of this ties in to your research let me know! Jason Dell'Orfano
