PICA Elvira Splendora Pica, born February 20, 1918 in Dennison, Ohio (tuscarawas County)and passed on May 19, 2012 peacefully at Kobacker House after a long stay at Mayfair Village.

Vera was best known as the owner of Geno's Pizza in North Linden for over 45 years. S

he was often called the Pizza Queen of Columbus, Ohio and her recipe received rave reviews from both the Columbus Dispatch and the national pizza magazines.
She was forced into retirement at age 86 due to her battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Her pride was keeping up the most beautiful yard on Oakland Park Avenue.
Vera was known as the world's hardest working women and loved by everyone who knew her.
She was a long time parishioner and neighbor of St. James The Less Catholic Church

Her first words to anyone who came to her home was always "Are you hungry?"
She was a remarkable women who touched the lives of both young and old.

She is preceded in death by her parents Filomena and Giovanni Taffa, her sister Rose (Albert) Cautela and her beloved daughter Marina Davis. Survived by sons, Gary and Kevin (Craig) Pica; granddaughter, Marisa (David) Boldizar; grandson, Dominic Pica; great-grandchildren, Ava, Alisa and Andrew Boldizar; niece, Diane (Billy) Colasante; nephews, Richard (Donna) Cautela, Johnny Cautela; great-nephews, Todd and Rodd (Toni) Carmean, Jonathan Tantrik Cautela, Paul Garrett; great-nieces, Tara Cautela-Owings and Rosa Cautela.
She had many close relatives, friends and admiriers. There were several people who considered her a "second mom", especially Raymond Eal and Rev. Fr. William A. Metzger. Friends may call THURSDAY, May 24, 2012 at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, from 2-6 p.m. folowed by a Funeral Mass at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, 720 Hamlet Street,
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET AT THE CHURCH FOR HER FUNERAL MASS. Committal Service 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25, at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel (within the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery). Condolences may be sent via www.johnquint.com
