I am looking for information on the family of Geo Batta Piaggio (aka in the US: John B. Piaggio), born about 1845, possibly in Genoa, Italy.

He emigrated to the United States in 1863, to Memphis, Tennessee. He married Louisa Campodonico April 11, 1869 and they had children: Mary (1870), Mary Agnes aka Mamie (1871). John J. (1872), Catherine aka Kate (1877), Antonio (1877) and Margaret (1879).

His name may have also been Gio Batta Piaggio (taken from his writing in the marriage certificate, it is hard to decipher).

He and his son Antonio died of yellow fever in Memphis in 1878. I am looking for connections to his heritage in Italy. He is my son's ggg-grandfather.

Cheers - Kalli

John J. Piaggio's son George was my art teacher (and my father's art teacher as well) in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a wonderful person and I wish you the best in finding your family information. I have a few photos of George, actually even a small bit of a home movie of him. I also have two drawings he gave to me years ago. Liz Clift Ramirez

Wow! What great information! This works in with the little I know about George Piaggio (that he was a teacher in the Memphis schools all his life). His sister, Margaret, is our direct connection.

Thank you so much - I am sending a personal email to you as well.
