Does any one have a John Patchen, born March 5, 1917, died Oct 5, 1976 in Ohio, probably Akron? He was married to Nada Patchen, and they had at least one son, John. I believe this family was related to our family. (Their name was Americanized from Piacente to Patchen)

I don't know if you are still interested but John Patchen was my father.

He lived his life in Ohio, served in the military, married my Mom (Nada Domokur), worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. until his death in 1976.

His mother's name was Mary and I do not know his father's name, but my understanding is they came to Akron from Robbins Ohio. My dad had 11 brothers and sisters. I believe there is only one brother who remains.

My dad was a wonderful man ... devoted husband and father. Avid golfer and fisherman.

When my relative, Joseph Piacente (Patchen) who was born in 1869, died in 1931, his obit said he had a brother Anthony of New York, and William of Chicago. I found a newspaper article mentioning your family. My great-grandfather was from Santo Vito Sulione, Italy. Perhaps our ancestors were related. Please contact me.

This is really cool ... anyway, I was under the impression from my Mom that my fathers family was from the Chek Republic. This has me wondering though ... I am checking with relatives living here on some more background ... your information will be helpful when asking my questions. Interestingly enough though I did have an Uncle Joe so maybe my initial information was not fully correct. I just kind of got into this due to my mother's death recently and her relative calling us from Belarussia.

Where did you see the newspaper article from? I would be interested in reading it.

I will get back to you as soon as I hear from my cousin! I did not really think I would hear from you this fast since the date of the first request was in 2005. Too bad my Mom still isn't here ... she was so delighted to hear from Belorussia this would have been the topper!

Thanks! Have a great day!

The article is from the Akron Beacon Journal from Nov. 1976. It is about a car accident, when John was 15 years old. Please email me directly, and I can send the article to you.
